Clear braces offer the reliability and durability of metal braces with none of the aesthetic drawbacks. Rather than metal, these braces are made of a clear ceramic material, and the wires can also be tooth-colored, making the braces practically unnoticeable on the teeth. They offer the ideal alternative for patients who want to straighten their teeth without having to feel self-conscious about their smile.
Important Clear Braces Facts:
Clear braces are much less noticeable than metal ones, and they are able to blend in more seamlessly with the teeth because of their subtle appearance.
The brackets for clear braces do not stain, but the clear elastic ties that are used to hold the wire in place can, especially if they are frequently exposed to darkly colored drinks such as coffee and wine. These ties will be changed during routine adjustment appointments, but to limit potential stains, it is recommended that you use a straw when enjoying dark drinks and try to limit your consumption of known staining foods (such as darkly colored berries or foods with tomato/soy sauce).
For certain patients, clear braces may take longer to adjust the teeth than metal ones.
